I’ve recently become slightly obsessed with watches. Ever since I gave up on the Apple Watch Series 2 I had been wearing for a year — it just didn’t launch as fast as I wanted it to — I looked into getting a “real” watch, that is, something that looks a little more “grown up.”
That’s when I started doing a little bit of research, and oh man, what an expensive hobby this could turn out to be.
After lurking on the r/watches subreddit (which, if you care about your checking account balance at all, you’ll steer away from) and a couple other watch blogs for several weeks, I finally pulled the trigger on the Citizen Promaster Nighthawk Blue Angels Edition. And man, I love this watch.
It’s the first metal bracelet I’ve owned, as well as the first analog watch I’ve owned for quite a while. I went with Citizen because of their Eco-Drive solar-powered battery technology, so it doesn’t need battery changes, and this particular model didn’t break the bank, and looks just amazing. After wearing it for about a month, I’m very happy with the purchase.
The face is busy, but still remains very clear and easy to read. I love the slide-rule feature, even though I have yet to learn it very well. It’s big, heavy, water resistant, and looks great in a business setting or casual outfit. Couldn’t be happier.
